The MoneyThumb API has no separate price. API access comes with MoneyThumb's PDF Insights and PDF Server plans, and you pay per document converted, not per API call. MoneyThumb's pricing page lists plans starting at $599.95 a year, and one conversion is one monthly statement no matter how many pages it has. For a lender that means a four-month MCA file costs 4 conversions and a three-account, twelve-month commercial file costs 36, so the tier you land on moves your real cost per loan file more than the headline price does.
Below is what MoneyThumb publishes about API billing, what a loan file actually costs at its published rates, what the API returns, and the budget traps worth knowing before you connect it to your CRM. Every rule quoted here comes from MoneyThumb's own pricing page, store and API documentation. The per-file costs are our arithmetic on those published figures.

What you are actually billed for
MoneyThumb sells a prepaid pool of conversions. You buy a bundle, each document you convert draws the balance down, and the pool refills automatically when it runs low. The API is just another way into that pool. There is no call-based meter, so polling for progress, pulling a scorecard twice or downloading the Excel version of the same result does not cost anything extra.
The unit is the part lenders get wrong. A conversion is a monthly statement, not a file. If a borrower sends one PDF covering January through June, MoneyThumb detects the six periods, splits them and charges six conversions. Two operating accounts over the same six months is twelve. Pages do not matter at all, which is good news for high-volume merchants whose statements run 40 or 60 pages a month, and neutral for everyone else.
Two exclusions help at the edges. A statement with fewer than five transactions is free, which covers dormant savings accounts that brokers include out of habit. And reprocessing a document you already converted is free, so a failed CRM sync or a retried webhook does not double-bill you.
The two entry prices on MoneyThumb's own site
MoneyThumb's pricing page opens at $599.95 a year and presents three plans: PDF Server for structured data, PDF Insights for the underwriting scorecard, and Enterprise for custom work. Every plan lists Thumbprint fraud detection. The store, meanwhile, still carries a PDF Insights product at $499.95 for 400 statement conversions, and a bundled PDF Insights with Thumbprint pack at $599.95 for the same 400. The simplest reading is that the pricing page now leads with the bundle. Ask which one your quote is built on, because the difference is $100 a year at the entry tier and grows with volume. Our MoneyThumb pricing breakdown lists every published pack from 400 to 200,000 statements.
What a loan file costs through the MoneyThumb API
Because billing is per monthly statement, the cost of a file depends on how many account-months it contains. The table below prices three common US lending files at three points on MoneyThumb's published PDF Insights ladder: the $1.25 entry rate at 400 statements, $0.95 at 10,000, and the $0.50 floor that starts at 100,000.
| Loan file | Conversions | At $1.25 (400 pack) | At $0.95 (10,000 pack) | At $0.50 (100,000 pack) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MCA submission, 1 account, 4 months | 4 | $5.00 | $3.80 | $2.00 |
| Bank statement mortgage, 1 personal account, 24 months | 24 | $30.00 | $22.80 | $12.00 |
| Commercial or SBA loan, 3 accounts, 12 months | 36 | $45.00 | $34.20 | $18.00 |
Two things stand out. First, the floor rate needs 100,000 statements a year, which is more than 8,000 a month. Most funders and small business lenders buy somewhere between the first and second column. Second, long lookbacks are where per-statement billing adds up. A 24-month bank statement mortgage costs six times an MCA file even when the statements are short.
For comparison, LenderAnalyzer bills by page on a monthly allowance. The Starter plan is $99 a month for 2,500 pages. If an average business statement runs six pages, the same three files use 24, 144 and 216 pages, which is roughly $0.95, $5.70 and $8.55 of a fully used Starter allowance. The honest caveat runs the other way too: for a merchant whose statements are 60 pages each, per-statement billing is the cheaper model. Price your own mix of files, not a single example.
What the MoneyThumb API returns
MoneyThumb documents two APIs. The PDF Server API returns structured transaction data from statements and other financial documents as JSON, Excel or CSV. The PDF Insights API, currently version 1.5, adds the underwriting layer: a scorecard built from 75+ transaction categories and hundreds of fields, true revenue, counterparty checks on MCA funders and debt collectors, tax return comparison, DSCR and financial ratios, and Thumbprint fraud scoring.
The Insights reference lists endpoints to authenticate, create and list applications, convert one or many documents, check progress, get results, pull the scorecard as JSON or Excel, retrieve a signed scorecard URL, get transactions, delete a statement and read your remaining conversion balance. Version 1.5 requires header authentication with a basic or bearer scheme. Webhook notifications tell your system when a job is done, and MoneyThumb offers a Salesforce package and Zapier support for teams without developers. Its docs also warn that fields are added frequently without notice, so build a parser that ignores fields it does not recognize.
The delete endpoint deserves a line in your data policy. Borrower statements are among the most sensitive records a lender holds, and once they sit in a CRM, a vendor's API account and an analyst's downloads folder, answering a borrower's privacy request means knowing every copy. Teams handling that at scale use data subject request software to map where personal data lives, then call the vendor's delete endpoint as part of the process.
Budget traps before you connect it
- The balance expires. Unused conversions lapse after 12 months. A lender that buys the 10,000 pack to reach $0.95 and uses 6,000 has paid about $1.58 per statement actually converted.
- Auto-Refill is on by default. The pool renews when less than 1% remains. That is convenient for a funder with steady volume and a surprise invoice for one whose volume just dropped. It can be switched off on request.
- The ladder is not smooth. On the published PDF Insights packs, 90,000 statements cost $49,500 and 100,000 cost $49,995. Check the tier above the one you were about to buy.
- A scorecard is not a decision. You still need your own rules for revenue, balances and stacked positions. MoneyThumb's Enterprise plan adds custom risk signals and decisioning; the lower plans leave that to your system.
When a different API is the better buy
MoneyThumb is a strong fit for funders who want prepaid, transparent pricing and bundled fraud detection, and whose files have long statements. It is a weaker fit if most of your files are short statements, if you would rather pay a flat monthly price than manage an expiring pool, or if you want the underwriting metrics themselves returned rather than a scorecard your team interprets.
The LenderAnalyzer bank statement analysis API takes a statement and returns the transactions plus true revenue, average daily balance, NSF and negative days, and existing loan and advance payments grouped by funder, on plans from $99 a month, with the REST API included on the Pro tier. MCA funders who want the same summary without writing code use MCA underwriting software in the browser, and our MoneyThumb alternatives for lenders page compares the whole field. If you are still deciding between a document API and open banking, start with the best bank statement APIs for lenders.
Frequently asked questions
Does MoneyThumb have an API?
Yes. MoneyThumb offers the PDF Insights API, currently version 1.5, which returns transactions, an underwriting scorecard and Thumbprint fraud results, and the PDF Server API for structured transaction data only. Both use header authentication, and MoneyThumb also offers a Salesforce package and Zapier support for teams that do not want to write integration code.
How much does the MoneyThumb API cost?
There is no separate API fee. You buy a prepaid bundle of conversions, and the pricing page lists plans starting at $599.95 a year. The published PDF Insights packs run from $499.95 for 400 statements to $99,995 for 200,000, which works out to $1.25 down to $0.50 per monthly statement converted.
Does MoneyThumb charge per API call?
No. MoneyThumb charges only the first time a document is converted. Status checks, result downloads, scorecard exports and reprocessing the same statement do not draw down your balance. The unit is the monthly statement, so a PDF covering six months counts as six conversions regardless of how many API calls you make.
Is MoneyThumb SOC 2 compliant?
Yes. MoneyThumb states it is SOC 2 Type II compliant, meaning its security controls were independently audited over a sustained period. The report is available to prospective and current customers under NDA through a sales contact, which most bank and credit union vendor management reviews will ask for before an API goes live.
Does MoneyThumb offer a free trial of the API?
Yes, but it is arranged through the sales team rather than self-serve. MoneyThumb's API page directs developers to contact sales for a trial account before integrating. If you want to see output on your own statement first, the tool at the top of this page runs LenderAnalyzer's analysis on a real file without a sales call.
The bottom line
The MoneyThumb API costs whatever your conversion bundle costs, starting at $599.95 a year on the pricing page, billed per monthly statement and never per call. Count the account-months in a typical file, multiply by the rate at the tier you will really buy, and allow for balance that expires unused. If that number looks high for short statements, or you want computed underwriting figures instead of a scorecard, compare it with a flat monthly API before you sign.
